Long before I brought an SLR camera I loved looking at Landscape photography images and what sticks in my mind now from this long time ago are the iconic landscape photos of Ansel Adams with their perfectly framed composition, quite breathtaking beauty and impact.
Many years later inspired by ‘modern day’ professionals lsuxh as David Noton and Charlie Waite but also by the breadth of wonderful images from all levels of photographer on the Flickr photo sharing website I took the plunge buying an SLR camera to take ‘proper photos’ of our Landscape.
I love getting out into the countryside and I am always fascinated by the beauty of our varied Landscape and capture images that reflect that beauty. Freezing that moment as the light touches the land is a special thing.
It’s definitely a love affair and takes effort to get the best image possible often this means revisiting the same spot many times, in many weathers and different seasons to catch the right conditions and take that photo that I’m want to put on my wall (and of course for someone else’s pleasure on their wall!)
Lately I came across a quotation from the Landscape Photography master whose images first made an impact on me -
“You don’t take a photograph, you make it” - Ansel Adams. I now know what he meant. So, here’s some I made earlier....
